An important project for the strengthening of the country’s Civil Protection is being completed by Information Society S.A. on behalf of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection within the framework of the ‘AEGIS’ programme.
The upgraded Information System ‘ENGAGE’ is beyond any doubt a modern digital tool for providing information support to the competent Services of the Fire Brigade for better incident management and for the correct visualization of operational planning.
The multifaceted importance of ENGAGE was praised in his address, during the workshop – presentation of the project, by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Mr Evangelos Tournas, who stressed, among other things, that “with this project we are shielding the country against risks. It is the beginning of a new era. The effort continues by harnessing technology and enhancing preparedness, coordination and efficiency”.
In his address, the Governor of the Recovery and Resilience Facility Coordination Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Mr Orestis Kavalakis pointed out that projects such as ENGAGE act as multipliers of operational value and stressed that the use of the Recovery Fund resources in the field of Civil Protection is an investment in resilience and security, with immediate and lasting benefit for citizens and the country.
In his speech, the CEO of Information Society S.A., Mr Stavros Asthenides said: “The upgrade of ENGAGE is a critical step in the armouring of Civil Protection. With this project we are creating a modern, reliable and interoperable platform that supports all phases of crisis management, from prevention to recovery. At Information Society S.A. we remain firmly committed to the implementation of projects that enhance the security of citizens and the operational capacity of the state”.
The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection responsible for State Aid, Kostas Katsafados, and the Secretary General of Civil Protection Nikos Papaevstathiou, the Secretary General for Natural Disaster Recovery and State Relief, Petros Kabouris, the Chief of the Fire Brigade, Lieutenant General Theodoros Vagias, the Deputy Chief of the Fire Brigade, Lieutenant General Anastasios Pappas, the South Aegean Inspector Lieutenant General Dimitrios Briolas, representatives of the Recovery Fund, Information Society S.A., the companies SATWAYS and COSMOTE TELEKOM, executive and senior officers of the Fire Brigade, Directors and Heads of Departments of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, as well as executives of the agencies implementing the ‘AEGIS’ programme.
The project is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” with the funding of the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
