The brand-new “Integrated Information System for the management, retention, disposal and highlighting of records kept in the General State Archives (GSA)” was presented at a special workshop held on June 29, 2026.
The event was welcomed by the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Sofia Zacharaki, who underlined the emblematic nature of the project and its importance for research, public administration, the educational and academic community, as well as for all citizens.
The President of the GSA Authority, Professor Dimitris P. Sotiropoulos, the General Director of Information Technology and Communication Infrastructure of the General Secretariat of Information Systems, Aris Meletiou, the CEO of Information Society, Stavros Asthenidis, the CEO of Nova ICT Alexandros Bregiannis and the Director General of the General State Archives, Amalia Pappa, also conveyed their greetings.
Mr Asthenidis pointed out that this is “a very important project for the memory and continuity of the Greek people”, emphasising that its successful completion is due to the substantial contribution of the executives of the General State Archives, who embraced the project and contributed decisively to its successful implementation.
During the workshop, the design, implementation and capabilities of the new information system were presented.
Anastasia Dikopoulou, Operational Coordinator of Digital Action of the GSA, highlighted the strategic planning and importance of the project for the promotion and utilisation of the national archival stock. Christos Papaterpos, co-founder and Technical Director of Dataverse Information Systems & Applications, presented the innovative functions of the new system and the complete digital transformation of the services of the GSA, while Christoula Pantazopoulou, Director of the Documentation & Archiving Solutions Department of AMS Archiving Services Ltd, referred to the process of digitisation and documentation of archival material, while presenting the capabilities of the Digital Repository.
The Project Owner is the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, the Operating Agency is the General State Archives, the Funding Agency is the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, with the Implementing Agency being Information Society, and it was funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund “Greece 2.0” Next Generation EU.
