After the Global Digital Information Centre Platform, the Information Society delivered one more major project to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This is the Digitisation of the Diplomatic and Historical Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was presented at an event held at the “G. Kranidiotis” amphitheatre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Giorgos Gerapetritis, after warmly thanking the Ministry of Digital Governance, the Information Society, the project’s contractors and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “Today, with the digitisation of more than 31 million pages of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs valuable digital archive, is a particularly important moment of transparency”.
In his speech, the CEO of Information Society S.A., Mr Stavros Asthenidis stated: “Today the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the assistance of all of us in the implementation of this project, is taking a big step forward, towards national self-awareness, research efforts and the safeguarding of institutional memory. For the first time, such extensive and historically valuable archival material is organised, documented and made operationally usable through a single digital infrastructure with high standards of security and institutional control and is delivered to historical research”.
