Workshops for the expansion and upgrading of Fishing Operations Monitoring and Recording Integrated System (OSPA) are organized by the Directorate-General for Fisheries of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food.
The first one will be held on Tuesday, 22 October 2024 at Onoma Hotel in Thessaloniki, the second one on Thursday, 24 October at Volos Palace hotel in Volos and the last one on Thursday, 7 November at Athens Avenue Hotel in Athens. The opening time for the workshops is common (10:00).
The OSPA is the main digital tool for managing management and monitoring fishing activities, and its extension/upgrade is included both in the Digital Transformation Book 2020-2025 and in the Digital Strategy of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food 2021-2025.
Having contributed decisively to the digital transition of the fisheries industry in recent years, the OSPA is being upgraded and expanded in order to contribute to ensuring the sustainability of marine biological resources, the development of aquaculture and the sustainability of fisheries.
It promotes the redesign and simplification of procedures, transparency and efficiency, with a focus on the citizen, and in full compliance with national and European legislation, as well as the recommendations of International Organizations.
Owner of the project “Expansion/Upgrading of OSPA” is the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, and it is implemented with funding from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund by Information Society S.A.
The project includes a number of subsystems and applications, which are provided either as web applications or as mobile apps and relate to the whole range of fisheries procedures, such as the register of fishing vessels and electronic fishing authorisation, the fishing license subsystem, the application for recreational fisheries, electronic fishing logbook and transhipment, transport, weighing, unloading, movement declarations, electronic sales and withdrawal declarations, traceability, import-export certificates, aquaculture subsystem, control and sanctions subsystem, the reports and data verification – validation, electronic communication and statistics, etc.
