Joint Press Release of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Ministry of Environment and Energy
The acceleration of the implementation of the “Smart Readiness Vouchers” programme to support 120,000 buildings with ultra-high speeds through the installation of optical fibre by the end of 2025, was decided by the Ministers of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou and of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis, the Alternate Minister of Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis and the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Nikos Tagaras.
More specifically, the Joint Ministerial Decision (Government Gazette B 3678/ 26.06.2024) provides that from now on, the National Cadastre Code Number (K.A.E.K.) of the vertical ownership will be used for the identification of the building, which will be automatically completed by the system, after the selection of the building to be subsidized upon submission of the “Smart Readiness Vouchers” application.
In the context of this project, works related to the installation of optical fibre networks in the building, in order to facilitate the provision of ultra-high speed broadband services in all building areas (apartments, offices, stores, etc.) are subsidized. Furthermore, with a view to upgrading the “smart readiness” of the buildings, the installation of infrastructure for the future interconnection of utility network meters (electricity, natural gas) with the central point where the building’s electronic communications infrastructure is located, is promoted. Moreover, the preparation required for the installation and communication of appropriate sensors related to safety, control of good operation and measurements related to the environmental footprint of the main common facilities of the buildings (central heating boiler room and lift) is carried out.
Detached houses and apartment buildings located within the Intervention Area that do not already have in-building optical wiring are eligible buildings. Buildings owned by the public bodies, Legal Entities governed by Public Law and Legal Entities governed by Private Law of the wider Public Sector are not eligible and are excluded from the action.
This is an important project with a social and developmental dimension, funded by the “Greece 2.0 National Recovery and Resilience Fund” with a total budget of EUR 100 million. Euros It is implemented by the ‘Information Society’ (‘Information Society’ S.A (IS S.A) with a closure date of 31th December 2025.
Interested installers are reminded that through the platform smartreadiness.gov.gr they can submit their application until Monday 30 June 2025, for the eligible buildings under the “Smart Readiness” Action.
