Information Society has so far contracted about 200 projects from the national digital transformation plan, which was implemented five and a half years ago by the Government.

We are at the heart of developments, as the central hub of the Ministry of Digital Governance in the maturation, development and implementation of major projects and we manage more than 440 projects in various stages of maturity, the majority of which are funded by the “National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Greece 2.0”.

Greece’s digital progress is now a reality that cannot be denied.  It is clearly reflected in the interactions of citizens and businesses with the State and is also recognised internationally.

The national target set by the Government and the Ministry of Digital Governance is that by 2027, almost all services provided by the state to citizens should be digitised. This is our greatest challenge in the years to come.

2025 is a milestone year for all of us at Information Society.

It is a pivotal year in the IT and technology sector with the implementation of important and innovative digital transformation projects in the Public Sector.

The greatest challenge for Information Society now is how to administer the resources —not financial ones— available to businesses and the Hellenic State in order to make sure that all these projects are delivered on time, without compromising quality. They must be used to the maximum extent possible.

Therefore, as a priority, in order to make use of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (“Greece 2.0”), whose funding expires in 2026 with a tight schedule and high demands, we must intensify our efforts to complete large-scale projects for the digitization of public services and infrastructure and accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence and the strengthening of cybersecurity in the public sector.

We want the Greek public sector to gradually and methodically enter the era of AI, where digital applications will make the operation of the Hellenic State more efficient.

These are just a few of the numerous initiatives we need to launch for the new year as developments in the field of digital technologies are expected to be rapid, with significant changes in all sectors of economy and society.

We aim to have all projects, especially those funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, completed within 2025 or at the latest in the first half of 2026. The challenge is huge for Information Society, as these are complex, high-budget, geographically dispersed projects involving many Public Bodies, all of which are factors that together make the projects high priority and high risk.

All of us at Information Society are fully aware of the above challenges and we are committed to doing our best every day for the successful completion of each project, aiming at the digital transformation and modernization of the Public Sector to serve each citizen more qualitatively, in a faster and safer way.
