What is the objective of the project?
The objective of the project is to upgrade the integrated infrastructure, content and services of the official web portal of the Ministry of Culture.
The Ministry of Culture’s website is the first website of a Greek Ministry; it was developed in 1994 and went live at the web address https://www.culture.gov.gr/ for the first time in 1995, under the title “ODYSSEUS”. In 2003, almost a decade later, the information relating to the presentation of the Museums, Monuments and Archaeological Sites was separated, thus creating the new “ODYSSEUS”, website while https://www.culture.gov.gr/ was shaped in a new format, showcasing the Ministry’s full range of cultural activities, projects and administrative procedures.
Since then, and in line with the ongoing need for technological updates, the Ministry of Culture’s website has been upgraded on several occasions so that it can meet the operational and technological requirements of each period and also cater to an international audience, given the unique nature, the impact and significance of Greece’s cultural heritage and contemporary cultural events.
What is the aim of the project?
The core objective of the project’s physical scope involves the comprehensive operational restructuring, standardization, strengthening, and technological upgrading of the Ministry’s official web portal, so that it may be deployed as a modern digital communication tool, on the one hand, for citizens and businesses using its services nationwide to manage their affairs, and, on the other hand, for Greeks and foreigners interested in cultural heritage and cultural events, and in cultural information and education in general.
