What is the object of the project?

The object of the project is the provision of software development services and the use of related subscription services for the design, construction and operational support of the Integrated National System of Digital Recording & Management of Controls & Traffic Fines of the Hellenic Police. The project also includes the preparation of an implementation study, the installation of the system in hosting infrastructures, pilot operation, training and the good performance guarantee of the system for one year.

What is the purpose of the project?

The feasibility of the specific project for the design and construction of an integrated information system for the digital recording and management of controls and fines of the Traffic Police/Hellenic Police is focused on the need, on the one hand, to digitise procedures that are currently carried out “analogously” (e.g. issuing a handwritten fine) and, on the other hand, the need for centralised management of heterogeneous data necessary for strategy formulation and initiatives to improve road safety conditions. At the same time, it is expected to significantly reduce bureaucracy and serve citizens faster.

What are the expected benefits?

The project has multidimensional benefits. The most important ones are:

  1.  Efficiency & Transparency
The system will allow automated recording of offences and fines with electronic devices and sensors/cameras, reducing the scope for human error. Transparency will be enhanced through direct access to data by the relevant bodies.
  2. Improving Operational Management
By bringing all data together in a centralised system, it will allow for better coordination between services, monitoring of performance and the extraction of statistics to assess the effectiveness of controls.
  3. Economic Benefits
Automating the process of recording and collecting fines reduces administrative costs. At the same time, the timely collection of fines helps to increase revenues.
  4. Citizen Service
Announcement of an electronic open (International) open and restricted tender for the Project “Integrated National System of Digital Recording & Management of Controls & Fines of the Traffic Police-Hellenic Police”
Citizens will be able to be informed immediately about their offences and fines, while the possibility of online payment will save time and facilitate their compliance. They can also easily raise objections with online objections.
  5. Strategic Planning & Prevention
The data collected can be used to map high risk areas, allowing targeted actions to prevent and improve road safety.
  6. Compatibility with European Standards
The designed system incorporates international best practices and can be interconnected with European databases, enhancing cooperation on traffic and road safety issues. Upgrade the computing infrastructure used by its staff regardless of the place and location of their work.
