What is the object of the project?
The object of the project is to upgrade the capacity of the SYZEFXIS_II network to aggregate and process traffic to the MAN Hubs, to the level of 10 Gb/s capacity per direction, thus offering sufficient bandwidth for the operation of the Public Sector of the cities connected to the MANs.
What are the purpose and objectives of the project?
During the development of the operator metrics in SYZEFXIS II it was found that the aggregated interconnection of the MAN Hubs to SYZEFXIS II, at the capacity level of 1 Gb/s per direction, is inadequate and requires upgrading. This upgrade is the purpose of the project of this notice. The project aims to implement the reception and aggregation of traffic in the MAN network, from the Hub location, at a capacity level of 10 Gb/s per direction, from the Providers’ networks, in the cities where the largest MANs operate, in terms of the number of connected and served Operators, which are:
– Heraklion, Chania, Patras, Larissa, Ioannina, Lamia.
It is noted that from the traffic measurements that are continuously collected in SYZEFXIS_II, there is a possibility of choosing another large city with a significant number of Operators and high traffic volume, instead of Lamia. The final decision will be taken by the Contracting Authority during the phase of Design
Implementation.
What are the expected benefits of the project?
The upgrade of the SYZEFXIS_II capacity for traffic aggregation and processing to the Hubs of the MAN networks, offered by the present project, allows to serve the Operators connected to the MANs with sufficient optical access capacity, with optimised data access, at physical and logical network level. This upgrade will provide sufficient capacity to receive, aggregate and process traffic, both for the current needs of the operators and for the coming decade, as well as the ability to optimally prioritise critical traffic from the city’s Operators to the core of the SYZEFXIS and EDYTE networks.
