What is the object of the project?
The object of this Project is to implement the necessary actions to ensure Business Continuity of selected Public Administration bodies, so that all selected employees will be able to fulfil their work obligations remotely in a secure manner. The project is expected to upgrade the operational capacity of public sector employees and will ensure that civil servants have uninterrupted access to critical information systems and infrastructure for essential government functions, regardless of the circumstances.
The main objects of the Project are:
- The provision of laptops to a selected group of civil servants,
- The provision of connections for data exchange within and outside SYZEYXIS II.
More specifically, in the framework of this project the following will be implemented/ provided/ delivered:
- Supply of laptops and provision of connections.
- Supply of 1,150 laptops and 1,150 connections for data exchange within and outside SYZEYXIS II.
- Equipment installation services.
- Warranty of good operation and support of the equipment after supply.
The contractor must guarantee the proper operation of the items delivered.
What are the purpose and objectives of the project?
In many special circumstances, civil servants need to be able to work remotely, having secure access to all the data and applications they use to perform their work, as if they were on the premises of their agency, using the computing infrastructure available to them. Moreover, given the recent experience with the COVID-19 pandemic, the rapidly changing economic picture due to the spread of a pandemic can have a devastating impact on the overall value and thus the image of any organisation. Therefore, in the context of the smooth operation of the Public Administration, and the uninterrupted access of the necessary civil servants to critical information systems and infrastructures under any circumstances, the adoption of a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is deemed necessary.
The main objective of the project is to ensure the business continuity of the public sector by assessing the current situation and developing an appropriate and practical recovery plan. With the implementation of the Plan, the Public Sector will maximise its operation even in unexpected circumstances. The plan should also assess the various risks and impacts of alternative options and take into account the relevant legislation.
The project as a whole aims to study the individual needs across the Public Sector, to develop a Business Continuity Plan (BCP), as mentioned above, as well as to design and implement all the actions required to ensure Business Continuity across the Public Administration, in order to allow Civil Service employees to fulfil their work obligations remotely, in a safe and efficient manner.
What are the expected benefits of the project?
The project is expected to:
- Upgrade the computing infrastructure used by civil servants regardless of the place and location of their work,
- Contribute to the digital transformation of the Public Administration, and
- Contribute to the resilience of the public administration, modernising it as a whole.
