Significant response of Greek entrepreneurship during the first cycle
Athens, 23 December 2025 – Following the successful completion of the first evaluation cycle, the GAIA Greek SME Hub‑X Accelerator of the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, implemented by Information Society S.A., announces the launch of the 2nd evaluation cycle, extending the opportunities for Greek SMEs, startups and business groups to join the European innovation ecosystem. Interested parties may submit their application here.
The first evaluation cycle closed with 48 applications from SMEs, which demonstrates the interest of the Greek market for the exploitation of data and future participation in European data spaces. The participating companies come from a wide range of sectors, with the main ones being Tourism, Education, Health & Biotechnology, Industry and Information and Communication Technologies. The diversity of the sectors that expressed interest – from Culture and Agriculture & Agri-food to Environment & Energy, Media, Transport & Supply Chain, Shipping, Smart Cities, Real Estate, Construction and Retail – proves that digital innovation knows no borders and that every sector of the Greek economy can benefit from participating in the GAIA-X ecosystem.
Through GAIA‑X Accelerator, Greek businesses receive tailored guidance and training to accelerate their integration into co-exploitation ecosystems, based on European standards, in order to transform their ideas into mature, sustainable business proposals and pursue international growth opportunities. What GAIA‑X Accelerator offers per interested group:
- For SMEs, startups and business groups: access to mentoring, coaching and consultancy, use of the online platform for training and networking, participation in thematic areas of cooperation and events that enhance extroversion.
- For mentors: entry in the Mentor Registry, participation in high-impact activities and cooperation with dynamic business groups.
- For the market: interconnection with the innovation ecosystem, access to new technologies and talent, participation in pilot projects and enhancing the corporate image.
- For institutional and research bodies: cooperation with businesses and the market, participation in research projects and thematic hubs, dissemination of policy orientations and good practices.
GAIA‑X Accelerator integrates Greece into the European data management and sharing framework, enhancing security, transparency and compliance with European standards. At the same time, an ecosystem of cooperation is being created that brings together the public and private sectors, academia and businesses, strengthening the country’s participation in Europe’s digital policy.
The acceleration cycle has a duration of 4 months for each beneficiary business group, startup or SME from the date of entry in the register.
