‘The platform marks the beginning of a new era, where the establishment and operation of a business is no longer an obstacle, but a simple, fast and well-organized process,’ wrote Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis with reference to OpenBusiness, in his weekly review of Sunday 9 February.
The new OpenBusiness information system, which went live on 3 February, has simplified the procedures and drastically cut down on the costs and time needed to establish and start a business both in the private and public sectors.
It was implemented by ‘Information Society’, the central planning, development and implementation hub of the Ministry of Digital Governance, and was financed by the Operational Program ‘Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship, Innovation’ / the Special Management Service of the Program ‘Digital Transformation’, co-financed by Greece and the European Union.
‘The new OpenBusiness information system is a very important tool for business. Public administration is becoming simpler, more efficient, more modern. The platform supports the licensing process for 57 major economic activities and covers approximately 2,500 codes,’ said Mr. Takis Theodoricakos, the Minister for Development.
The new information system, which is hosted in the Hellenic Government cloud (G-Cloud), supports the licensing process for 57 major economic activities. OpenBusiness will continue to expand by simplifying, through its reform effort, the licensing process for additional economic activities.
‘We are delivering a game-changer project, as it changes how businesses can have the interaction they need with the Hellenic State. Technology is progressing and evolving in terms of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, i.e. concepts that come up in every discussion. In all these fields of action, we are able to offer the Hellenic State with many new capabilities for evaluating procedures and providing services to citizens and businesses,’ said Mr. Stavros Asthenidis, CEO of ‘Information Society’, concerning OpenBusiness at the program presentation event.
