The Article by the Director of Project Management at ‘Information Society’, Mrs. Sofia Ploumpi in the magazine “AI Report” in ‘Sunday Apogevmatini’ newspaper on the topic: ‘Information Society’ leads the way in projects incorporating smart applications
“Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the fastest growing technology of our time, affecting every aspect of everyone’s daily life. Its proper use can radically transform the way the state operates, improving service provision to citizens and enterprises. From policy making to day-to-day transactions with the State, AI tools speed up processes, reduce administrative costs and enhance the citizen experience.
In the framework of the National Strategy for AI, Information Society SA. (‘Information Society’) leads the way in the design and implementation of projects incorporating smart applications. These projects are already being implemented under the RRF and are not limited to technological upgrading, but mark the digital evolution of the state, improving the efficiency, security and quality of public services. With a view to the proper and effective adoption of AI in the public sector, ‘Information Society’ introduces innovative solutions in the design of major projects currently being implemented by the RRF:
The e-Justice project brings Artificial Intelligence to Justice, by automating case files, launching cases, supporting the anonymisation of judgments and automatically converting recorded records into text, making courts faster, more secure and better documented.
In the Health sector, the Greek National Telemedicine Network is becoming a reference point: on this basis, AI applications are being built to enhance accurate diagnosis and remote monitoring, bringing primary care closer to every citizen.
In Economy, respectively, the use of machine learning models at the National Transparency Authority and the Independent Credit Rating Authority strengthens controls, predicts risks and increases transparency. At the same time, at the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, AI enables rapid analysis of large volumes of financial data, identifies inconsistencies, enhances transparency and compliance, and serves as a “watchdog” by identifying suspicious transactions and fostering investor confidence.
In Civil Protection, AI converts data from sensors, satellites and drones into foresight scenarios, enabling faster and more accurate response to natural disasters, protecting our lives.
The new €25 million project, commissioned by the Ministry of Digital Governance to ‘Information Society’, paves the way for new AI applications in the Public Sector, giving priority to cases where the use of AI gives a comparative advantage over traditional approaches, bringing innovative and faster digital services.
With these initiatives, ‘Information Society’ confirms its long-standing role as a catalyst for reform, bringing the Public Sector into the age of Artificial Intelligence and transforming it into an organisation that thinks openly, acts quickly and makes digital innovation a reality for everyone.”
