What is the object of the project?
According to the strategic planning of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection for the implementation of modern technologies in its field of activity, the main objective is to use new technologies and artificial intelligence in order to enhance its capabilities in each field, with particular emphasis on prevention, preparedness and early warning.
To this end, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection will implement a holistic operational system that utilizes all existing and new systems, under two main operational pillars:
- National Crisis Management and Prevention System
- National Early Warning System
The proposed action aims at designing and implementing the appropriate digital infrastructure for data collection and processing and the creation of a central intelligent Digital Control Tower using advanced analytics. The Digital Control Tower will help prevent crises by enabling operational decisions.
In the context of utilising advanced technologies and digitization, the development of the Control Tower as an intelligent Crisis Prevention and Response System within the framework of the responsibilities of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection will upgrade the risk assessment capability and improve the disaster response time.
What are the expected benefits from the implementation of the project?
The development of applications and diagnosis systems to address natural and man-made hazards and disasters requires the collection and management of data, even in real time, combined with the establishment of appropriate preventive monitoring indicators, statistical analyses, key performance indicators, as well as the development of digital twins and the visualization of interactive business intelligence reports, reinforcing research and innovation.
