What is the object of the project?

The purpose of the project is to modernise the production IT infrastructure of the Ionian University, with a view to covering the needs of students and administrative and teaching staff. More specifically, the following systems must be procured, installed, configured and commissioned:

a new modular array of state-of-the-art servers comprising a modular case, five servers and a pair of dedicated modular switches to interconnect the server system with the existing central switches;

• two new Storage Systems (one for the Primary Site and one for the DR Site);
• two new integrated Backup systems (one for the Primary Site and one for the DR Site), along with the relevant software;
  the necessary operating system and user licenses;
• one cloud infrastructure virtualisation and management software suite, including the automation software for migrating to the DR Site in case of disaster;
• two integrated racks to host the new infrastructure, including auxiliary equipment;
• five new security devices (Firewalls/UTMs) for all University sites, including the central panel used to control these devices;
• one integrated Network Access Control (NAC) solution, to control user and device access to University resources;
• the required user access licenses via Virtual Private Networks (VPN), for secure remote user access to University infrastructure;
• one integrated Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) solution, for better remote user access;
• one multi-level Endpoint Security Solution, along with protection thereof against malware;
• one integrated user Email Security solution;
• one secure DNS provision service capable of providing a first line of defence against online digital threats.

What are the purpose and objectives of the project?
