What is the object of the project?

The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection is implementing a complex strategic plan for digital transformation, in order to be able to upgrade its operational preparedness and the services provided to all Greek citizens.

The main focus of this project is the implementation of the digital transformation actions planned under the national Civil Protection program ‘AEGIS’. Under this program, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has undertaken the implementation of this flagship action, which includes its full modernization in terms of the IT technologies and systems it uses. The contractor of this project will be asked to supply the Ministry with state-of-the-art software systems and to render a range of services that are necessary for the optimal productive operation of the offered systems. These services are broken down into specific categories, depending on their nature and scope within the Ministry’s environment.

What is the purpose of the project?

The proposed action will enhance operational preparedness and efficiency mainly in the areas of volunteer coordination as well as rapid recording, recovery and compensation of damages caused by natural disasters. It will provide a clear picture of the Civil Protection actions in which a volunteer group and its members are able to participate, allowing for immediate intervention, as well as effective coordination of members per action. In addition, depending on the need for rapid recovery from natural disasters and the immediate payment of compensation to victims, based on the experience of recent natural disasters, this information system will allow for digitizing all relevant processes and functions.

What are the benefits of the project?

Complementary digital applications will allow the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and handle the details it uses to communicate with citizens and businesses on issues relating to the management of, and response to, crises and natural disasters. Furthermore, the use of state-of-the-art digital tools and technologies will support the operational work of the Secretariat-General for Restoration of Natural Disasters and State Aid and of the Secretariat-General for Civil Protection. These tools and technologies will, firstly, enhance the operational functioning of modern volunteerism and, secondly, allow for the timely recording of damages and payment of aid in cases of natural disasters.
