What is the object of the project?

Object of the Project:

  • Transfer of the Archaeological Cadastre Integrated Information System to the Government Computing Cloud (G-Cloud), whose architecture also supports G-Cloud.
  • Supply and installation of any operating system software licenses (O/S) for the support/compatibility of the applications that will be relocated to the G-Cloud infrastructure, in case of incompatibility of the existing O/S with the G-Cloud infrastructure. For the physical hosting and management of the information system data, as well as the network interface, it will be based on the G-Cloud infrastructure.
What is the purpose of the project?

The objective of this project is the relocation of the “Archaeological Cadastre Integrated Information System” to the Infrastructures of the Government Computing Cloud (G-Cloud), i.e. the relocation of the following applications – sub-systems:

  1. Database Management Subsystem for Descriptive Property Data and Cultural Environment Protected Areas.
  2. Geospatial Data and Cultural Environment Protected Areas Management Subsystem.
  3. Geospatial Data Management Subsystem: a) Application for Constant Geospatial Data Update and b) Application for Preparation of Final Mapping Products in paper and digital format.
  4. Application for the Management and Presentation of Public Property managed by the Ministry of Culture.
  5. Application for the Management and Presentation of Cultural Environment Protected Areas and Immovable Monuments.
  6. Accompanying Documentation Database and Workflow Management Subsystem.
  7. Iapetos: Application for the Management and Distribution of Mapping Background and Online Services.
  8. Application for User Management.
  9. Gaia Archaeological Cadastre Portal: Application for the Presentation and Distribution of Cultural and Property Data and Electronic Services via the Internet.
What are the benefits of the Government Computing Cloud?

The G-Cloud Government Computing Cloud provides the following benefits:

  1. Safe, modern hosting infrastructure with:
  • Constant power supply
  • Adequate and uninterrupted air conditioning
  • Internet access with sufficient bandwidth (greater than 1Gbps if required) via SYZEFXIS network
  • Load Balancer and SSL Offloaders/Accelerators
  • Central switches and security systems for application and system protection (Switches, Firewalls, IDS/IPS)
  • Required storage space for both productive operation and backup
  • Automated system for receiving and storing system backups (Full VM backup), with strong encryption
  • Guaranteed uplink bandwidth of at least 2,5 Gbps via FCoE 10G routes to central switches and storage network (SAN)
  • Complete isolation from other hosted systems both at management, network and storage level.

Β. Easy, secure and seamless system access and management with: • VmWareeSXI Visualisation Software

  • VmWarevCenter Virtual Machine Management Software
  • Role-Based access to certified users of the respective system Software for monitoring the smooth operation of virtual machines.
  • Remote access via SLL VPN to install, manage and control systems.
  • vmWare High Availability and DRS on each cluster
  • Automated download of backups based on schedule (backup policy)
  • Automated Virtual Assets Monitoring
  • Use of vApps to organize power on / power off complex system processes
  • Access to a System for the Registration, Management and Monitoring of User Requests (Service Desk)
  • Access to a reporting system on the operating elements of the hosted systems

Additionally, if desired, the Government Computing Cloud can offer:

  • Self-managed Virtual Firewall for configuration by the hosts of the hosted system.
  • Distinct IPS/IDS configuration for full compliance with the security study of the hosted project
  • Possibility of backup on demand / snapshot on demand.
  • Recording of administrator and administrative actions access to remote syslog servers
  • Self Service Portal for VM Provisioning via a Service Catalogue on Public Cloud for testing/training
  • Transfer of non-infrastructure backups to cassettes with strong encryption
  • IPSEC end-to-end tunnelling for creating WANs with third-party systems
