The roadmap for the complete digital transformation of Greek cities and the radical change in the relationship between the State and the citizen was presented by representatives of ‘Information Society’ (Information Society S.A.) at the 14th Future of Cities Conference.<\/p>\n

The Head Project Manager of ‘Information Society’ (Information Society S.A.), Ms Sofia Ploumpi<\/strong>, analysed how the ‘Information Society’ implements the Ministry of Digital Governance’s strategy for CRM – one of the key pillars of the new phase of gov.gr. The action is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” with the funding of the European Union – NextGenerationEU.<\/p>\n

As Ms Ploumpi pointed out, strategy is only one side of the coin, while technical planning and project implementation are equally important. “The Information Society is a key pillar for the implementation of the digital strategy of the Ministry of Digital Governance, transforming guidelines into concrete projects and technical specifications. A typical example is the CRM project, which creates a single infrastructure to serve citizens and businesses”, he said, estimating that from June onwards the system will operate as a “living system”.<\/p>\n

As he stressed, the new digital system will incorporate the functions of the next phase of gov.gr, will collect citizen data and will interoperate with different public sector bodies, facilitating communication and case management. In practice, the CRM will act as a single point of contact for the citizen, who will not have to enter the same data repeatedly in different services.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the citizen will be able to have an overall picture of his transactions with the public sector, to monitor his cases and appointments, as well as all his contacts with public services.<\/p>\n

The PPP – SYZEFXIS II upgrades the public telecommunications infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr Charis Stellakis, Head Project Manager of Infrastructure of ‘Information Society’ (S.A.)<\/strong> presented the progress of the PPD – SYZEYXIS II project, which upgrades the telecommunications infrastructure of the Greek public sector. He claimed that the project covers about 36,500 points, many of which are currently operating with old infrastructure that makes it difficult to provide modern services to citizens.
\nWith a budget of around \u20ac600 million, the project aims to upgrade equipment and networks, enabling the provision of modern services, creating secure infrastructure for sensitive data and rationalising costs, he explained.<\/p>\n

The project, which is being implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” with funding from the European Union – NextGenerationEU, acts as the central interoperability orchestrator between the bodies.
\nThe joint presence of the two projects at the conference highlighted their complementary nature: On the one hand, the network infrastructure (SYZEFXIS II) and on the other hand, information management (CRM), create a modern, digital ecosystem that enhances quality of life in cities and the daily life of citizens.<\/p>\n
