The CEO of \u2018Information Society\u2019, Mr. Stavros Asthenidis, participated in the panel of the 2nd International Conference on Technology and Innovation in Southeast Europe, focusing on \u201cThe Future of Digital Health, Today\u201d, which was held in Thessaloniki. As part of his participation, he pointed out the successful, valid and effective implementation of the digital transformation projects according to the Recovery Fund milestones, achieved with the horizontal cooperation of all bodies, which has undoubtedly been a great challenge.<\/p>\n
With regard to the health projects, which were the main thematic unit of the panel, Mr. Asthenidis emphasized the two major reforms implemented by \u201cInformation Society\u201d.<\/p>\n
Namely, he highlighted the digitization of approximately 16,000,000 files in 120 hospitals of the Public Health System, which is a highly complex and demanding project, but also the expansion of the national telemedicine network throughout the country which now includes 315 new (added) telemedicine stations and 3,000 home care points for vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n
This expansion \u2013 upgrading of the National Telemedicine Network (EDIT) to primary health care and its interconnection with existing systems will achieve covering of health needs in mountainous, inaccessible and insular areas of the country where currently there is no infrastructure of the National Telemedicine Network (EDIT), and also in thirty (30) penitentiary establishments and twenty (20) refugee and migrant reception facilities.<\/p>\n
The CEO of \u201cInformation Society\u201d also referred to two projects that are in a maturity phase and expected to be announced which relate to the organizational digital transformation of health institutions.<\/p>\n
The first is for EKAB and involves the supply and installation of incident management systems and a Control Tower and the second is for EKAPY and involves the supply of goods and services in crises directly, namely without a need to first implement an Electronic Public Procurement process.<\/p>\n
In his conclusion, Mr. Asthenidis, after highlighting the timeless \u201clink\u201d between technology and health, underlined the decisive role that artificial intelligence may have in health, both at scientific and infrastructure level.<\/p>\n
