In this context, both the on-premises infrastructure (private cloud) and the services provided by public cloud providers are examined.<\/p>\n<h5>What is the purpose and the objective of the project?<\/h5>\n<p>The \u201cG-Cloud Next Generation\u201d Project (Operation) aims to ensure the continuity of the productive operation of the information systems that are hosted or will be hosted in the GSISPA infrastructure, in the framework of G-Cloud Next Generation (G-Cloud NxG), as well as to cover the expansion of resources related to infrastructure, when and if required, by modernizing and strengthening the existing infrastructure of the Government Cloud (G-Cloud) of GSISPA, so as to enable the provision of modern Information System hosting services to Public Bodies in line with the hybrid cloud standards, according to their needs and providing the agreed level of service (SLA), as required by law, as well as automations that will allow, in addition to the existing ones, the hosting of the critical Information Systems of the Public Administration.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the project aims to provide new, advanced digital services, such as the provision of ready-to-use preconfigured systems (Platform as a Service), the implementation of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI \u2013 Desktop as a service), the achievement of the maximum possible level of automation in the productive operation of the system and the servicing of end users, as well as the maintenance of a high level of service quality in terms of security and high availability.<\/p>\n<h5>What are the expected benefits of the project?<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased availability and performance of the Public Administration Information Systems by adopting a model with flexible and efficient datacentres, which provide resources flexibly and are more resistant to failures and other problems through the use of modern virtualization techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Increased efficiency of the Public Administration Information Systems.<\/li>\n<li>Increased security of the Public Administration Information Systems.<\/li>\n<li>Economies of scale by reducing:<\/li>\n<li>the total cost of ownership (TCO) for the equipment used in the projects\u2019 central systems due to significant savings in the energy and the area that will be required for datacentres and, in general, through the simplification, standardization and maximization of the use of infrastructure;<\/li>\n<li>the total cost arising from the management and maintenance of information systems.<\/li>\n<li>Improvement of the overall \u201cCitizen experience\u201d, due to the centrality of the Data Centre services, which will help reduce the time required for the provision of applications (time-to-market), while at the same time facilitating scaling and, consequently, enabling an immediate response to increasing needs etc.<\/li>\n<li>Improvement of productivity in the Public Sector by supporting the bodies so that they can focus on their core operational functions (optimal provision of services to businesses and citizens).<\/li>\n<li>Savings in the collaborating bodies due to the strengthening of their infrastructure, while at the same time increasing the productivity of their officials.
