The object of the project is the provision of services for upgrading the interconnection of the Public Sector Network SYZEFXIS II. In addition to the telephone traffic to and from the University and Research Institutions, as the telephone services to these institutions will be provided by SYZEFXIS II, it is expected that the exchange of data traffic between these two networks will increase significantly in the coming years, making it necessary to directly interconnect them with a high capacity connection. Furthermore, the Contractor is required to have a specialised design, implementation, activation, configuration and commissioning capability, and support on a 24-hour basis, for the entire period of operation of the interconnection, in order to provide them with a guaranteed level of service (Service Level Agreement \u2013 SLA).<\/p>\n
For the physical layer of this interconnection, optical fibre leasing will be performed. The interconnection services will be provided with wavelength division multiplexing, through DWDM equipment of the GRNET.<\/p>\n
The main objectives pursued in the SYZEFXIS II Network are the following:<\/p>\n
\u2022 The development of a new generation of public sector open network, based on advanced network technologies that will provide high-level telecommunication services in public bodies.
\n\u2022 The provision of basic internet services (e-mail, teleconferencing, web hosting, etc.), advanced network security services and voice and image services to bodies and consequently the improvement of their operation.
\n\u2022 Ensuring the required network infrastructure for e-government projects.
\n\u2022 Ensuring electronic interoperability between public services for fast and secure exchange of information.
\n\u2022 Providing integrated services to citizens, through automated and user-friendly systems for the provision of information and transactions processing with the State.
\n\u2022 The rationalisation and evaluation of the needs of Public Bodies for electronic communications services.
\n\u2022 The reduction of telecommunication costs for the State and the creation of economies of scale through the aggregation of demand for related services in the Greek State.<\/p>\n
